Father Ted was a 1990s television situation comedy set on the extremely remote fictional Craggy Island off the west coast of Ireland.

In it, three disgraced priests preside over the parish: Father Ted Crilly, Father Dougal McGuire and the disgusting elderly priest, Father Jack Hackett. They have a housekeeper Mrs Doyle, who is hell-bent on serving tea to all and sundry.

Red Dwarf was a British science fiction sitcom series, aka Britcom, which parodies most (if not all) of the sub-genres of the medium. The first series aired on BBC 2 in 1988 and seven further series were produced. The idea was developed from sketches introduced on a 1984 BBC Radio 4show "Son of Cliché".

The Red Dwarf is a gigantic spaceship, belonging to the fictional Jupiter Mining Corporation, which, following a nuclear disaster on board, was left to drift into space. Millions of years later, after radiation levels have dropped, the only surviving crew member is reanimated from stasis.

The slob anti-hero is David Lister He is joined by the android Kryten, a hologramatic representation of deceased crew member Arnold J. Rimmer (Chris Barrie), and the Cat, Felix Sapiens, a descendant of a domestic cat which Lister smuggled onto the ship which became humanoid whilst retaining a cat-like interest in fish and heightened fashion sense, as well as Holly, the ship's computer.

A pilot episode for an American version was produced for NBC in 1992, though never broadcast. The show was essentially the same, substituting American actors for the British. A notable exception was Robert Llewellyn, who reprised his role as Kryten. Another notable difference was that it considered by many to be not funny. Additionally the franchise has expanded to include four novels, written by the show's producers, Doug Naylor and Robert Grant. Grant and Naylor wrote the first six series together, before Grant left in 1996 leaving Naylor to write the next two alone.

He had a relatively brief screen career: by the time he made his first film he was in his mid-40s and an established music hall artist, and his last role came less than a decade later. But between 1934 and 1943 he was a profilic and popular film comedian. He was credited on several films as a writer or co-ordinator, and was arguably the dominant 'author' of all the films in which he appeared, in that they were built around his persona and depended on the character and routines he had developed over years on the stage.

He worked at Elstree, then Gainsborough, then Ealing; the Gainsborough period was the most consistently successful, particularly when he worked with the team of Marcel Varnel (director), Val Guest and Marriott Edgar (writers), and Moore Marriott and Graham Moffatt (supporting cast) - as on the railway film Oh Mr Porter! (1937). Just as Tony Hancock, in some ways a descendant of Hay, would later cut himself off from sidekick Sid James, Hay felt impelled to break up the partnership with Moffatt and Marriott and was, likewise, never quite the same again, although The Goose Steps Out for Ealing (1943) was an effective anti-Nazi piece of slapstick.

Aside from his day job as a comedian, Hay was a dedicated and respected amateur astronomer.

Set during World War Two, it told the story of Rene Artois, a French cafe owner in the village of Nouvion. The village had been occupied by the Germans, who had then stolen all the valuable artifacts in the town. These included the first cuckoo clock made and a painting of the Fallen Madonna by Van Klomp. The commandant of the town decides to keep them for himself after the war and get Rene to hide the painting in his cafe. The Gestapo also want the painting and send Herr Flick to find it.

At the same time Rene is acting as a safehouse for downed British airmen. He is forced to work with the Resistance who would otherwise shoot him for serving Germans in his cafe. As well as this Rene is also trying to have an affair with his two waitresses without his wife discovering.

This few plot devices were basically the storyline throughout the entire series. Each episode ran on from the previous often requiring the the previous episode be also watched. Fortunately Rene would inform the viewer as the to what had previously.
